How we work

From plans to plants…

Every project begins with a conversation – about your hopes for your garden and the role you want it to play in your life. From there we will work together to create a space that works now and that grows with you into the future.

Sustainability underpins our work: we prioritise re-use of materials, support biodiversity, and design with longevity in mind.

You can opt for a concept sketch only or a full design package. And you can be involved in as much – or as little – of the process as you like: it’s your choice. But rest assured, Fieldhouse Studio will make it easy, exciting and fun, whatever you choose to do.

Our design process

  • 1. Engagement

We start with an initial consultation and site analysis – it’s an opportunity to meet with you, explore your garden and understand your goals.

A site survey comes next – either by us or a surveyor, depending on the site’s complexity.

Finally we create a summary of our conversation that captures all the details we’ve discussed…ready for the designing to start.

  • 2. Concept

The next stage is a concept document complete with 2D sketch masterplan and supporting images.

This can include 3D visuals, planting palettes, hard landscaping suggestions and lighting ideas – all to give an impression of the style and feel of the space we’re looking to create.

We then work together to make sure that each and every part of the design works for you (and, ideally, makes you smile!)

  • 3. Detail

Once you’re happy with the concept design, we get down to the detail: a scaled masterplan, technical construction drawings, product specification and planting plans.

This stage moves the concept into reality and allows for a comparison between build quotes.

  • 4. Build

If you would like us involved in the build, we can help with the tender process, contract management and build monitoring. It’s all about making sure the process is as smooth and streamlined as possible!

We can also help with the sourcing of plants from leading nurseries and set them out on site.

Finally, once the build is complete,  we can provide a maintenance schedule to ensure all aspects of the garden stay as beautiful as possible for as long as possibe.
